UAC – Uninterrupted Air Conditioner is a thermal-electrical device for providing uninterrupted air conditioning even when the incoming utility power fails. The device facilitates in making air conditioning possible during power outages without the use of expensive diesel generators and large battery banks and UPS/power inverter. The UAC makes this possible by storing and using energy in combination of thermal and electrical forms. The majority of the energy required for running an air conditioner during power fails is stored in a cost effectively way in phase change (water → ice → water). This storage combination hence reduces the need of back-up power (either batteries or generators capacity) by 80–90%. Only a very small portion of electrical energy (about 10–20% of actual air conditioning load) is required for providing air conditioner during power failure. This small amount of electrical energy is only used for evacuate the stored thermal energy which can be drawn from either a small battery or from alternative source. This synergistic energy storage combination results in solving a huge problems in an economically and sustainability way also help in reducing noise and air pollution by saving huge quantity of diesel and reduces battery population in developing countries with week and unreliable grid. ==Operating air conditioner (AC) during power cuts/outages== The conventional solutions used for operating air conditioners during power failures are either backup diesel generators or battery-backed UPS or power inverter. Both the solutions are sub-optimal in terms of end-user cost and sustainability due to following reasons: * Under-utilization in a generator's rating by a factor of 5 times to support high starting current of AC. * This under-utilization results is a Specific consumption rate at worst of the range in diesel generator which typically is between 0.28 and 0.4 litres per kilowatt hour. This maker running AC's on fully electrical backup highly inefficient and costly to end user. * Other more modern way is use of Battery backed AC (Typically 800 Amp-Hr per 1.5 Ton AC) connected to UPS or power inverter. This solution has often issues like high cost of battery and its periodic replacement. UAC overcomes most of the above problems associated with conventional approaches for running AC during power failure since 80-90% of the energy is stored in latent heat of phase change, this results in an optimal solution by enabling the following * Diesel Generators can be fully done away with in most cases depending on the usages & duration of power outages. * Only 10-20% of the electrical backup power is needed. * Even in mission critical application essentially needing backup generator, the generator size can be reduced by 10 times. Hence resulting in best levels of specific diesel consumption. * Battery backup size is reduced by 80-90%, Which can be also provides by small Solar PV charged battery. * The UPS / power inverter size reduces by 10 times. * Big Batteries banks are eliminated saving a huge replacement cost to end user. * The Thermal storage of UAC is infinitely reusable and needs practically no replacement and maintenance. 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「UAC – Uninterrupted Air Conditioner」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
